While his hands are tied by Engineer dept, that statement is only half valid. I used to work with Skywalker on building the RALUS package. The updated versions part, I downloaded the 'free trial' from SYMC website, extract the RALUS binaries for Debian from that. Then package back up as an add-on with wrapper scripts for start/stop/etc. Nothing is needed from SYMC to do this. Maybe I should start accepting donations and make the add-on myself.

That might be fine but if you're running anything newer than BE 2012 (say Windows 2016 or SQL 2016/17) then you may find that your backups do not work properly (if at all) but, if you're running older stuff or only backing up a file store then you should be good.
